Over his career, Mr. Lucas has been involved in over $2 billion in real estate related transactions.
He earned an undergraduate and a law degree (admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1984) from the University of Tennessee as well as a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas.
In 8 years as a commercial mortgage banker he closed over $250 mm in debt and equity transactions. In 6 years as a workout consultant he reorganized, restructured or otherwise resolved over $1 billion in troubled real estate related debt. In 15 years as an owner principal in several commercial real estate development enterprises, he was responsible for nearly every aspect of over 2 million square feet of space. These projects include Deer Park Town Center a $90 million, 550,000 s.f. center in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Town Center Plaza, a $70 million, 600,000 s.f. center in Leawood, Kansas (Kansas City), Aspen Grove, a $50 million, 300,000 s.f. center located in Littleton, Colorado, The Arboretum of South Barrington, a $150 million 600,000-square-foot lifestyle center in the northwest Chicago suburbs, and MacAllan Ridge, a planned $70-million vacation resort in the Great Smoky Mountains.
In addition, Lucas has extensive experience in the structuring and negotiation of real estate joint ventures including a $310 mm portfolio capitalization, a $200 mm program based retail joint venture relationship with a NYSE REIT and a $150 mm Lifestyle development joint venture with CALPERS and RREEF.
